      The Center’s vision is to keep families active, get involved in the community, and be proud of their heritage. We strongly believe that through dance expression, like Folkloric and other dance disciplines, students will learn about their heritage and be proud. The Galan Center helps families participate in enrichment activities that help prevent unhealthy behaviors and allows them to thrive in the community.

    Dance students participate in a range of interactive workshops that promote stage presence development,  movement expression, posture evolution, team-building abilities, cross-cultural background knowledge, and many other skills. Students also perform frequently at public events, county fairs, parades, and recitals, building their self-esteem and community involvement.

    Dance community families are invited to participate in a range of hands-on art expression workshops, team-building activities, diversity initiatives, cross-cultural awareness programs, and multiple mental health workshops that empower them to be better leaders in their families.

    Instructor Program

    The Dance-ANDO program encourages young-adult students to become dance instructors and role models in the community. Interested NTRJ students and other dance students are encouraged to apply for the dance instructor position and utilize their knowledge of dance techniques to promote dance disciplines across Pomona.

    Scholarship Program

    Galan Cultural Center invites community members to become “El Galan Padrino”. During times of need we have found that many of our families face hardship to continue to pay tuition for dance programs. Selection criteria includes low-income families, longevity of students in the program and life changing events. A limited number of candidates are selected and recipients are expected to be actively involved in the Galan Cultural Center activities.
